Q and A with Joanne

Why did you become a lawyer?

I enjoy working with people. This is a very people orientated role and I meet lots of interesting people from all walks of life.

When you are not being a lawyer what do you like doing most?

I take lessons in ballroom and Latin American dancing. I also enjoy walking, yoga and family time with good food.

Where is your special place in the region?

The Wairarapa – particularly Greytown and Martinborough. I love the quiet ambience of both places and the shopping and cafes are great.

What is your favourite shop/restaurant?

Favourite shop: I love the Alannah Hill store in Newmarket, Auckland. Her clothes are beautiful and you don’t often see them in Wellington.

How would you describe your style of practice?

I try to ensure that my clients feel relaxed when they meet with me and are comfortable enough to ask me any questions they have on any matters of concern to them. This is very important for first home buyers who may be a bit overwhelmed by the whole process of buying their first home.

If you had to give a first homebuyer a single piece of advice, what would it be?

Do not sign anything until you have spoken to your solicitor.

What is different about the HomeLegal service that makes it so popular?

It is a specialised service that enables clients to receive the best advice and knowledge from a number of solicitors, and our Legal Executives, who have had years of experience in conveyancing. Clients can expect to receive excellent service at a reasonable price.
